Our Story
Bemorefab Children’s Cancer Charity was born from a journey no family ever expects to take. On Friday 13th May 2022, our world shattered when our daughter, Florence, was diagnosed with leukaemia. Her prognosis was incredibly poor from the start, and it quickly became clear that chemotherapy wasn’t working. We were faced with the terrifying reality that her only treatment options might be abroad.
During this time, the support from our local community blew us away. Friends,family, and even strangers rallied around us, offering love, help, and kindness in ways we never expected. But we also knew that not every family facing childhood cancer was as lucky as we were to have this support, and that thought never left us.
Against all odds, Florrie was able to receive a bone marrow transplant in the UK at Sheffield Children’s Hospital—a treatment doctors believed had very little chance of success. At the time of the transplant, she still had a significant amount of cancer left, so they had to take a different approach, reducing her immunosuppressants. This led to severe graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), which, while helping to clear the remaining cancer, caused irreparable damage to her lungs. Now, she is waiting for a lung transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Despite everything, we are just so grateful that she is still with us.
Through it all, Florrie has been a beacon of hope—relentlessly optimistic, even on the hardest days. To show others that hospital doesn’t always have to be scary, we started recording TikTok videos, sharing her journey with the world. Her infectious positivity resonated with so many people that she amassed hundreds of thousands of followers, inspiring countless others along the way. Her courage and spirit were recognized in October 2024 when she was honoured with a Pride of Britain Award.
From this journey, Bemorefab was born. We knew that more needed to be done—not just for children like Florrie, but for all families facing childhood cancer. Our mission is to provide education, support, and awareness, ensuring that no child, family, or school has to navigate this journey alone. We also work to raise awareness about the importance of the bone marrow register, blood donation, and organ donation, going into sixth forms and universities to encourage young people to sign up and become lifesavers.
What started as our family’s fight has now become a movement—one of hope, action, and community.
